Aquarelle - "The Cross - Above All"

January 2-3, 2012

This is the first time that I tried painting my own composition. I didn't have much reference except for my draft. I wanted to study painting with lights and shadows. Honestly, I still don't get it that much. I didn't achieve what I wanted to paint either. I'll just try to do better next time.

Also, this is my first painting in a 400 series strathmore paper. For me, the texture of the 400 is better than the 300. However, when it comes to retouching the colors, it's easier to remove the watercolor paint in 300.

THE CROSS - Above All

I am a believer of Christ and I wanted to start making my own compositions with this cross.

I have my roses at the foot of the cross - since roses are one of my favorite subjects. They also remind of the lyrics of the song, Above all..

"Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall
and thought of me
Above all".

The purple cloth reminds me that Christ didn't stay at the cross. He may have died but He rose and lived again. His power rest not only on His death but also in His resurrection. And it's purple coz for some reasons, this color reminds me of Jesus Christ.

The G-clef and the musical notes are expressions of my nature as a worshiper. I love singing for Christ.

Lasly, the ROCKS simply signify my firm foundation who is Christ, Himself.
